Signal four: dew forecast decides the chase-versus-defend axis
The fourth signal is the dew forecast for the second innings, and this is the signal most operators underweight. A dew-heavy evening turns a flat surface into a bowler's nightmare in the second innings, because the ball stays glossy and the grip disappears from the spinners' hands. A dry, cool evening does the opposite and lets the bowlers hold for longer.
